I checked out the GoPro HERO3: White Edition from Best Buy recently and am sharing my thoughts on them as a blogger and a mom as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®

We LOVE going on family adventures and have been on one every weekend lately (exploring different areas of our state). My boys have tagged along with us since they were little so we have many adventure photos and video. I’ve been wanting to try out the GoPro HERO3 so I was excited to finally bite the bullet and get one at a recent trip to Best Buy. The HERO3: White Edition is wearable and gear mountable and waterproof to 197′ (60m).

I chose the GoPro HERO3: White Edition and got the head strap as well. Let me tell you – from the second we took it out the boys were nuts for it! They couldn’t wait to use it. I was a little nervous not having used one before (and being a bit picky about photos) but we went ahead and took it with us on a weekend adventure to Tonto Natural Bridge.

The GoPro got LOTS of use our first time out.

One thing I really loved about it off the bat was the GoPro App. I can turn on, start/stop and change modes of the camera without having to physically touch it! I do it all from my phone which is perfect for when the boys are using it or when attaching it to something (like their bikes, a swing or Kona). I love this feature and used it the entire time we were out!

The other cool thing about the GoPro App is that you can view your shot for framing purposes (which totally alleviated my nervousness) and it you can share videos or photos right from the app. Our grandmas love this feature 😉

I honestly didn’t realize how versatile this camera was and how easy it would be for us to use and fit in to our lifestyle.

Here’s the video from this trip

SO fun right?! Once we used it this first time my mind was spinning with ways to use it from now on and it’s so small and light we can take it anywhere. I always thought of this camera as something cool to use when you’re racing or surfing but it definitely has a place in my everyday photography and is probably my new favorite memory keeping tool next to my iPhone (which I can now use with my GoPro HERO3).

Sports games (cross country meet), park visits, pool time and a normal morning breakfast are next on my list to be captured. What would you record with a GoPro HERO3?

  1. First I want to let you know that I appreciate you sharing your video with us of your beautiful family with your Go Pro camera. As for me, I am in a dilemma trying to figure out whether I really want to keep mine or not as I don’t do adventure sports or anything and wanted it more for family movies where I could take advantage of the small size and conciliabilty plus, it’s toughness. To be honest, mine been sitting here for two days since it arrived and I haven’t even opened it yet..

What I wanted to ask you is this though, the framing and such on your film was great but one thing that I’ve wondered, that I’m curious about, is it seems like yours was blurry and suffered with dynamic range problems. Did you upload it, or film it, at low resolution?

    Thanks in advance!
    John

    • I’m pretty sure it’s because of the upload but let me see if I can find the original and compare it to this version and let you know!
