Room Inspiration

I love a good room makeover (especially right now since we are in the middle of moving) so I thought I'd share this amazing room from Jennifer Johner at Dearest Someday

I really love all the details

Especially that group of wood and sticks collected on a family vacation - what a GREAT idea!

Be sure to stop by her blog post to see a lot more photos and details. Thanks so much for the inspiration Jennifer!

I'm putting together a 4th of July/Independence day craft roundup to share later today or tomorrow so if you've seen a craft/activity that we'd love link me up here or by email! info@allfortheboys.com

Real Life Fruit Ninja

I am addicted to Fruit Ninja. I love that game! I was so excited when Love Them Madly emailed me her blog post for Real Life Fruit Ninja! We've seen Angry Birds - now this! I love that we can take a favorite video game and turn it into something active!

Using water balloons of course - my kind of outdoor summer game!

Is that brilliant or what? See her post for the how to and inspiration.

DIY MAGNETIC TRAVEL ACTIVITY TRAY

While we are mourning the ending of our big summer vacation many of you are still preparing to leave on yours. Even if you aren't going on vacation this is a great activity to keep in the car.

A DIY Magnetic Travel Activity Tray from Craft, Interrupted.

When my boys were little we'd make little sticker scenes but with magnets and a cookie sheet for them to play with in the car and they loved it. I really love this more 3D version.

Go check out the post over at Craft, Interrupted for the how to, the other versions, AND printables!

Party Inspiration - Reptiles

I love this party featured on Catch My Party from Amy at Creatively Quirky at Home. We are reptile fans in our house and I know my little reptile lovers would have had fun at this party. (Fun fact - Jared and I used to do Reptile shows at schools here and there when he managed a pet store.)

These favors just make the party for me

But the dessert table is pretty awesome too

They had a "reptile guy" come with lots of fun creatures to see (and hold)

Such a fun party! See more HERE

Any other reptile lovers out there? We have 4 eggs the boys have been waiting very patiently to hatch here!

FAQ's

I'm working on the navigation of the site to make it easier for you to find activities/crafts/things to do AND a big fort gallery (yay!) and wondered what questions you might like to see answered in an FAQ section? Are there any other site/navigation changes you'd like to see?

I love this community and want to work on making it better all the time!

Fort Friday

Oh man was this week crazy. Next week will be the same I think. I could retreat to a little fort of my own right about now! Let's see what some All for the Boys friends have been up to in their forts!

Here's a cute 9 month old using his "old" baby gym as a fort structure and exploring a little fort in the Winnie the Pooh play area at Disney!

I HAD to share this dino fort from Click Pray Love from their recent visit to the beach!

I LOVE this true summer fort from Katie Robinson Art - we may have to do something like this this summer!

Here's a new one - a fort made from a harp case! You do what you gotta do when your mom is busy giving music lessons!

And for some inspiration I've found around the web:

I could live in this handmade hideaway from The Handmade Home

What about this Ferrat Pyramid Daybed from Modloft

This is a pretty amazing fireplace/shelter for warming up and storytelling in Norway from Haugen/Zohar

I hope you got inspired to make and play in a fort this week! If you do send your photos to info@allfortheboys.com and I'll share them here!

Bracelets

My boys have been a little obsessed with jewelry lately. It feels weird calling it jewelry maybe accessories? Anyway it started with those cheap neon friendship bracelets. You know the ones you can get at the arcade with your tickets? Then it moved up a little when my oldest (9) found a leather bracelet after the Pirates of the Carribean ride at Disneyland. Now he wants to wear accessories everyday.

I thought maybe they'd like to make some of their own like these from Honestly...wtf

That didn't last too long - they just wanted to choose the colors and have ME make them. I didn't feel like making them either (maybe when life slows down a bit or I'm in the car driving to CA). Then I saw this tutorial to make a braided Hex Nut bracelet and figured I'd give it a go!

I bought silver hex nuts thinking they looked a little more industrial than the gold. It took me a while to get the hang of keeping the nuts in place while braiding (maybe I'm not as crafty as I thought) but I finished it! Before I could tie the last knot the boys were fighting over whose it was. I guess it was a hit!

I'm thinking next we'll tackle leather bracelets maybe with some grommets or stamping?

What do you think? Are your kids into accessories of some sort?

DIY Lego Key Holder

I keep coming across this and meaning to share it but now that I needed to buy a new key ring I finally remembered to post it.

A DIY Lego Key Holder from Minieco

Genius!
