Valentine Printable Joke Notes!

By popular demand I created some printable Valentine Joke Notes to go along with our Back to School, Halloween, and Christmas jokes!

These are so fun to stick in lunches, print out for a little joke book, add into class Valentines, or just read and share! I may make some more if time allows but we are also working on a printable Valentine gift to share with time to spare for Valentine's Day.

You can print your own set HERE (for personal use)

Enjoy!

2013 Kid Interview

I made these printable interviews last year. They are a fun way to document how your kids change each year!

You can have your kids fill them out or fill them out for them (don't forget to include the cheesy school photo if you have one). You can do them for the end of this year or for the start of next year.

I already made the 2012 VERSION that you can DOWNLOAD HERE

but I have gotten some requests for the 2013 version!

Winter Games

I ran across ThinkingIQ blog on Pinterest and wanted to share some ideas they had for winter games. I never really thought about doing winter games before except maybe if I was hosting a winter kids party but looking over my calendar for the next month I'm not even sure where that would fit in!

The first one is like the game HedBanz (that my kids love) but you make your own winter or Holiday themed cards!

The next post I really liked was a list of Snowball Games

Like the Snowblower game where you race to see who can blow the most "snowballs" into their cup

A snow shovel race is played with cotton balls and a spoon to see who can scoop up the most snowballs without using their hands (they have to put the spoon in their mouth) You could do this with toddlers as well, allowing them to use their hands.

The snowflake race where you race around a racetrack with a paper snowflake on your head trying not to let it fall off.

A lot more ideas on the Thinking IQ blog - these are all great activities for your advent calendars!

If you aren't connected with us on Facebook I thought I'd remind you here to print out your winter/Holiday themed jokes! These are great for lunches, advent calendars, for your kids' friends, or for class parties!

You can print this and the 2nd set of jokes HERE (PDF to download and print)

Failure (and a free printable)

 FAIL!

There have been many, many times when we've thought of an activity or experiment to share here on the blog that just don't go as planned. We never want to share something with you that doesn't work for us so you never get to see those. I thought I'd share one with you today.

We'd seen this solar bag experiment done before and were talking about it this weekend. My son thought that we should be able to do it with a regular black trash bag so we thought we'd give it a try. The theory behind it is that heat rises (density of air mass based on temperature) and the black bag + sun = heat. The air inside the bag DID get hot, but unfortunately that's about all that happened. No matter how much they tried they couldn't get it to "float" too much. They think it was just too heavy ;)

I plan on getting them a Solar Bag of their own at some point so we can see it really work! I see the importance of failure. Tweaking and trying different ways of doing the same thing to see what works and what doesn't or what works best and what my kids to experience it as well. If they bring me an idea (even if I know it won't work) I encourage them to think it through and try it out. Most of the time they are ready to try their ideas out without fully thinking them through but that's ok with me because even Edison said - I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that don't work. (this isn't his direct quote but was taken from a quote he said)

If you want your kiddos to remember this quote you can print your own! (free for personal use only)

Wreck it Ralph and Spoonful!

We are big Disney fans around here. Since I was a kid I've loved Disney. I am also really loving the new Disney site Spoonful. It's an inspiration site for crafts, food, activities etc. They have some REALLY fun Disney crafts and printables. Have you discovered it yet?

I recently spotted their Wreck-It Ralph Printables and was so excited to print these out for the boys. They are all over paper toys and we are excited for the movie!

Pacman Halloween Garland

The boys are getting the holiday itch thanks to stores and neighbors getting their decorations up! They were excited to make our own Halloween garland using this template from Minieco. We didn't use clear plastic behind the eyes just white paper.

And yes I realize I need to print pictures to put in my frames - maybe we should talke bets on how long it takes me ;) It's the first time that I've tried to decorate our very tiny little mantle thing give me a break lol!

We have a fun Halloween craft we're working on for you too (just haven't finished yet)!

So tell me that I'm not the only one with empty frames? Have you started holiday decorating yet?

It's almost October! My oldest turns 10 (waaaah!) and the boys are starting their non-stop costume decision making. Print them, cut them, and they are all ready for you to slip into lunches.

You could also attach them to a treat for an October school party!
